Family day of fun

This weekend we had no plans but I still wanted to do something nice. If we stayed at home we would have ended up doing work on the house so always nice to get out and about.

My husband bought us 2 tickets to Cragganowen on Groupon for 5€ each (full price is around 8.50). Cragganowen is out by Sixmilebridge in Clare and it features reconstructions of ancient Irish architecture including a dolmen, a crannog and a castle.  I’m not crazy about history and I wouldn’t say I was jumping for joy especially when it was raining but it was magical. If our little bub was a few years older he would have loved it but yesterday it was just great to even have our little baby with us. We were there a good hour and the smell of real turf was yummy, it was busy enough and when we entered one crannog we met a man from the past. There were a group of American children ahead of us and they were amazed and asked loads of questions.

My husband and I then went onto Ennis (we decided to stay local). It’s a town I always drive through and never stop there. I texted a friend for some recommendations of restaurants and boy did she point us in the right direction!!! We went to the Rowan Tree restaurant and what a little gem. I got the chicken goujon wrap even though I had sworn I’d get a salad and the salads DID look amazing but I was quite hungry! My hubby got the burger.  I will definitely go back here and the BEST part was that it was child and buggy friendly. It was a wide open space. It was lovely.

After Ennis we trotted onto Ballymorris Pottery to get our little mans hand print in clay as he is 6 months. We got a voucher for his christening but we upgraded to the glazed clay which was an extra 10€ and the voucher itself was worth €35. I would highly recommend this. The lady there was lovely and the pottery was amazing. We will have his print in 6-8 weeks and can’t wait!

So that’s my Saturday in a nutshell. We went on to meet some friends and hubby went for drinks last night so today is a rest day!
